Fundraising efforts are underway, with a pancake breakfast at Anacortes Fire Department Station 1 (1016 13th Street, Anacortes) on Saturday, February 26 from 7:30-10:30 am.  Donations will be accepted on site.

pink photoAnacortes Fire Fighters traded their familiar, dark blue uniform for something a little different recently.

For three days in October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in an effort to promote breast cancer awareness, duty crews wore a special bright pink uniform t-shirt.  The “Fighting for a Cure” t-shirt was created along with the Burlington Professional Fire Fighters Local 4111 and Mount Vernon Professional Fire Fighters Local 1983 to take part in a campaign supported by the International Association of Fire Fighters.  Skagit County Paramedic Association Local 3427 (Central Skagit Medic One) also participated.  IAFF locals throughout the US and Canada cared enough to wear pink throughout the month.  Read More Here.

Fire Fighters were met with positive feedback from members of the public, and look forward to participating in next year’s campaign.
